Ivory Coast stages a remarkable comeback to clinch the AFCON title!
Africa was brought to a standstill on Sunday evening as Nigeria and Ivory Coast clashed in the 2023 Afcon final at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé.
Nigerian captain Troost-Ekong broke the deadlock against the run of play in the 38th minute with a well-taken header at the back post. Frank Kessie crucially leveled the score in the 62nd minute for the hosts, setting the stage for an intense final 30 minutes.
Sebastian Haller then orchestrated a turnaround in the 81st minute with a precise near-post header that found the top corner.
And that’s how it ended. The hosts earned an incredible 2-1 victory to seal their third Afcon title!
