Reports indicate that one of Everton’s Premier League relegation rivals is poised to dismiss their current manager, with a replacement already being considered.

Crystal Palace, Everton’s Premier League relegation rivals, are reportedly considering former Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner as a potential replacement for Roy Hodgson. Pressure is increasing on Hodgson at Selhurst Park as Palace have lost three of their last four Premier League matches. Their solitary victory during this period was a 3-2 win against bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United. Following their recent 3-1 defeat to Chelsea, Palace find themselves only five points ahead of Everton, who are currently in 18th place. Additionally, Palace has conceded 14 goals in their last four matches.

Roy Hodgson’s contract at Selhurst Park is set to expire at the end of the season, but there are widespread reports suggesting that Crystal Palace’s chairman, Steve Parish, believes it’s time for a change sooner. Palace has struggled this season, losing half of their 24 games, with only six wins and six draws so far. The decision to potentially replace Hodgson indicates the club’s desire to address their current challenges.

In contrast, Everton made a managerial change midway through the previous season to avoid relegation. Sean Dyche took over from Frank Lampard and successfully guided the Toffees to safety with a crucial 1-0 win over Bournemouth on the final day of the campaign.

Palace had shown interest in Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, who had an impressive season with the Championship club following their promotion from League One. However, McKenna reportedly declined Palace’s offer as he preferred to stay with Ipswich amidst their push for automatic promotion from the second tier.

Oliver Glasner, who departed Eintracht Frankfurt last season, emerged as another candidate for the Palace managerial position. Despite being linked with Nottingham Forest previously, Glasner has been out of work since leaving Frankfurt. With accomplishments like winning the Europa League in 2022 and managing clubs like Wolfsburg and LASK, Glasner’s experience is notable.

While terms haven’t been finalized, Glasner has engaged in discussions with Palace and is eager to return to management. Hodgson is expected to remain in charge for the upcoming match against Everton, but there’s speculation that he could be dismissed before Palace’s fixture with Burnley, with the club growing increasingly concerned about the threat of relegation.
