Harry Kane is reportedly caught up in a dressing room rift as Thomas Tuchel‘s reign as Bayern Munich’s boss comes to an end.
Tuchel is expected to leave Bayern at the end of the season, one year ahead of his contract expiration, as announced by the club.
After three straight losses, Die Roten’s season is in complete collapse. They are now eight points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen and could be eliminated from the Champions League in the round of sixteen.
A 3-0 defeat in Leverkusen to fellow league contenders, followed by a 1-0 loss to Lazio last week in their UEFA Champions league’s first-leg tie, and a shock 3-2 defeat away at VFL Bochum on Sunday, has compounded their woes.
A BILD report claims that six key players are against Tuchel, while six others are in his corner.
The Anti-Tuchel group
Thomas Muller, 34, who has spent his whole career at Bayern, publicly expresses his support for Tuchel but in private is resentful of his lack of playing time.
The vice captain’s free-spirited attacking style does not mesh well with Tuchel’s masterplan, therefore he has been relegated to a mix of starts and substitute appearances, playing only about 40% of the possible minutes.
Joshua Kimmich, the third captain, is another key figure in the opposition to Tuchel.
Their relationship started to deteriorate in the summer when Bayern was rumored to be interested in signing a new number six, despite Kimmich only being 29 and still performing at top level.
The other members of the Anti-Tuchel group are Mathys Tel, Leon Goretzka, Matthijs De Ligt, and Serge Gnabry.
Since Julian Nagelsmann was replaced by Tuchel, Goretzka and De Ligt’s standing in the team has declined.
It’s no surprise former Arsenal man, Gnabry, is unhappy, as he has lost his place in the starting line up, managing just 11 appearances.
Tel, after an impressive start to the season has seen his role reduced to a bit part one, despite working hard in training, BILD reports.
The Pro-Tuchel group
Leading the gang in support of the beleaguered Manager is Kane, who was brought in by Tuchel in the summer. So far, the former Tothenham striker has managed to score 29 goals and is loyal to the German Manager.
Manuel Neuer, the club’s captain is another player in the Pro-Tuchel group as he pledges allegiance to the former Chelsea boss for standing by him during his injury crisis.
Newly recruited English defender, Eric Dier, who has made more appearances for Bayern (five) in his short stay than he managed all season for Spurs (four), is grateful for being given a chance.
Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala, and Rapheal Guerero complete the list of players in support of Tuchel, with Sane and Musiala being referred to as the Manager’s favourites as outlined by BILD, and Guerero, having played under Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund.
