Chelsea are reportedly leading the battle to recruit Victor Osimhen of Napoli in an attempt to address their goal-scoring problems in the summer.
The Blues are very keen on signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen at the end of the season, having led the Italian club to their first Scudetto in 33 years in the 2022-2023 season.
The 25-year-old Nigerian, who has been connected to possible moves to other teams, including Paris Saint-Germain and fellow London club Arsenal, is believed to be The Blues’ number one target to impose himself at center forward in the summer.
According to a report from TeamTalk, Osimhen is eager to make a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea being his most preferred of the options.
The report claims Chelsea has been trying to convince the current African footballer of the year to join them by using their links with previous players Didier Drogba and John Obi Mikel. The Napoli player is reportedly inspired by the success of African players in the Premier League.
Osimhen scored 31 goals for Napoli last season, and Chelsea, looking to solve their goal scoring problems in order to have a shot at major trophies, sees the Nigerian striker as a quality addition who can have a big impact in the final third.
Osimhen scores for Napoli
Osimhen was on song for Napoli yesterday in their round of 16 first-leg tie against Barcelona, converting an Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa pass to beat Andre Ter Stegen low into the far corner, bringing his tally to a total of nine goals in nineteen appearances.
