Massive heartbreak on Alisson Becker for Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp acknowledges that Alisson will be sidelined for an extended period due to a ‘serious’ injury.

Jurgen Klopp has disclosed that goalkeeper Alisson is facing an extended period on the sidelines due to a ‘serious’ injury.

The Brazilian goalkeeper withdrew from the squad to face Brentford on February 17, citing a hamstring issue sustained in training. Prior to that, he missed the victory against Burnley due to illness.

Alisson has been absent from the last five games for Liverpool, including their recent Carabao Cup final triumph against Chelsea at Wembley.

OneFootball covered Jurgen Klopp’s pre-match conference and he delivered an unfortunate news ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest, stating there’s no definite timeline for Alisson’s return due to a serious muscle injury. Despite the setback, Klopp emphasized it’s not a season-ending injury.

Kelleher’s stint so far

In Alisson’s absence, Caoimhin Kelleher has showcased remarkable performances, notably in the recent Carabao Cup triumph.

Klopp revealed there were discussions with Kelleher before the season, focusing on aiding his development through increased playing time.

Despite transfer interest last summer, Kelleher opted to remain at Anfield, a decision Klopp believes the player is now content with given his extended run in the team.

Jurgen Klopp affirmed that there was no possibility of Caoimhin Kelleher leaving, expressing disinterest in inquiries.

Klopp emphasized that, given the challenging market conditions, any potential departure would have required a substantial offer to make a significant impact on Liverpool’s transfer considerations.
