Manchester United’s potential new sporting director, Dan Ashworth, has reportedly held discussions with ex-Chelsea manager Graham Potter, adding to the mounting pressure on current manager Erik ten Hag, as per the sun.

Erik Ten Hag in trouble?
Potter, who was Chelsea’s former manager, is a favorite of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sir David Brailsford, with Ratcliffe considering him for the Old Trafford hot seat should Ten Hag be let go. The connection between Ashworth and Potter stems from their time together at Brighton, where they collaborated closely.

According to reports in December, Potter was being earmarked as Ten Hag’s replacement following discussions with Ratcliffe. Despite being sacked by Chelsea earlier, Potter has declined several offers as he patiently awaits the right managerial opportunity.
Ratcliffe’s admiration for Potter is evident, having previously attempted to lure him to manage his French club, Nice.
Erik Ten Hag unfazed
Ratcliffe’s recent silence regarding public support for Ten Hag has fueled speculation about the Dutchman’s future, despite his dismissal of concerns in interviews.
“I don’t care,” the Dutch manager said when asked about the situation.
United’s restructuring continues with the appointment of Omar Berrada as CEO, recruited from local rival Manchester City. The club now focuses on negotiating a compensation package with Newcastle for Ashworth’s services, with the Magpies seeking double the initial £10 million offered.
Despite facing scrutiny, Ten Hag maintains confidence in his position, citing discussions with Ratcliffe and Brailsford.
