“West Brom Defender’s Controversial ‘Save of the Season’ Denies QPR Shot with Hand on Goal Line”
QPR, determined to level the score after a missed penalty, came close to equalizing as Sam Field’s header cleared West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer, but Cedric Kipre seemingly redirected the ball over the bar with his head right on the goal line.

Upon closer scrutiny, it turns out he actually used his left hand to tip the ball over the bar.
The defender skillfully flicked the shot away, showcasing a save that most goalkeepers would applaud.
Despite the clear handball, referee Geoff Altringham missed the incident, and there were no appeals from QPR players. Replays revealed the infraction, prompting fans to express their opinions on social media.

One fan wrote on X: “There’s no VAR in the Championship which is just as well for West Brom defender Kipre who makes a goal line wonder save…”
Another posted: “Cedric Kipre has just pulled off the save of the season.”
“How did Kipre not get sent off?! What a save though!” a third said.
A QPR supporter then wrote: “Oh my God Kipre has just hit us with the hand of God.”

Fortunately for the Hoops, they managed to equalize 2-2 in the 81st minute, with Sam Field scoring his second goal of the night.
QPR’s Steve Cook rues wrong call
However, QPR center-back Steve Cook expressed frustration about the missed handball call, stating, “He [Field] should have had a hat-trick, a blatant handball from Kipre.
It can’t be missed! It’s a terrible decision by the referee, but we tried to give everything tonight.”
“We were unlucky, and I believe only one team deserved the three points,” commented QPR manager Marti Cifuentes. He added humorously, “I saw that they were playing with two keepers for a second, yeah!”
“I believe we had sufficient chances to secure the win, but unfortunate decisions didn’t go our way. If we had to face two keepers today, we need to ensure we’re better. I won’t complain about refereeing today; it’s a very difficult job.”
