Arsenal second-choice goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale finds himself in the centre of a horrific error leading to Brentford’s goal, giving them a chance back into the game.
Relegated to the bench
Ramsdale fell out of favour with Mikel Arteta upon the arrival of David Raya, who came on loan from Brentford last September. Arteta, when asked his reason for dropping the 25-year-old shotstopper, he said, “I think I mentioned that we wanted to build a squad with two quality players in each position, with different characteristics, and we have got that now. And to maximise that they have to play games, and we have a lot of them coming up now.” , as per goal.
Since then, the former Bournmouth goalkeeper has only appeared for the Gunners once in the English Premier League.
Ramsdale’s error
Going into the game against Brentford, Arsenal were left with no choice but to start Ramsdale, as Raya would not be eligible to play, due to his ties with The Bees.

The English goalkeeper had a pretty decent performance until the error at the end of the first half, giving Brentford forward Yoanne Wissa an opportunity to close him down and directing his clearance into his goal.

Arsenal will be looking to come into the second half in full force, as they need a win to go top of the league.
