Sergio Aguero’s return to football was marred by an injury barely eleven minutes into the game.
Sergio Aguero’s injury at the Independiente Legends match
During a legends’ match commemorating the 120th anniversary of his childhood club, Independiente, Aguero experienced a mishap when he fell following a challenge.
The 35-year-old returned to play despite prematurely retiring in 2021 due to heart issues that arose during a Barcelona match.
During an interview with TNT Sports before the Legends match, he said, “Two days ago, I did another study, and everything went very well.
“Now I’m going to Madrid because I have a tournament, and then to Mexico and the United States for other tournaments. And now I’ll see how I am.
“One never knows, but the excitement and the desire is always to return.”
Sergio Aguero could last only 11 minutes on the pitch
Upon his return, after being cleared to participate in the legends’ game, Aguero could only manage 11 minutes on the field before his shoulder popped out.
As he advanced towards the box with the ball, a tackle from Juan Eduardo Eluchans caused him to tumble, resulting in his shoulder slamming into the turf. Subsequently, Aguero had to leave the pitch and watch the remainder of the match from the bench.
Despite the mishap, the former Argentina international remained in good spirits, exchanging smiles with a touchline reporter as he remarked, “I think my shoulder came out,” while exiting the pitch.

Aguero and Carlos Tevez reunite
Sergio Aguero’s brief appearance for Independiente comes over two decades after he made his debut for the club at the tender age of 15 in 2004.
The five-time Premier League champion has suggested a potential retirement U-turn, hinting at finishing his career at the club, which is currently under the management of former Manchester City teammate Carlos Tevez.
Meanwhile, Sports Buddy reported in recent news that Erling Haaland, who replaced Arguero after leaving Manchester City, was reported to be limping on the training pitch, ahead of their clash against Arsenal.
