Djibril Cisse has identified a Chelsea player who appears to thrive under criticism, despite initial struggles at the club

Since Todd Boehly became co-owner in May 2022, Chelsea has witnessed numerous players arriving at the club. However, not all of these new signings have proven successful. Additionally, there are still some players from the Roman Abramovich era who remain at the club despite efforts to offload them.

Romelu Lukaku tends to thrive under criticism according to Djibril Cisse

One such player is striker Romelu Lukaku, who is currently out on loan at Roma. Chelsea has been eager to sell Lukaku following his disappointing second stint at Stamford Bridge. However, they were unable to find a buyer during the summer transfer window, leading to his temporary departure on loan.

Lukaku has made a significant impact at Roma, showcasing his prowess with 10 goals in 26 Serie A matches and an impressive seven goals in nine appearances in the Europa League.

What did Cisse say?

Former Premier League forward Cisse has come to Lukaku’s defense, expressing his admiration for the striker’s abilities. In an interview with DH Net, Cisse stated, “I like him as a player very much. He’s a top-quality player who consistently finds the back of the net. Despite facing criticism at times, he possesses strong mental resilience. It appears that criticism only serves to fuel his determination, which speaks volumes about his character.”

Chelsea hopes to take Lukaku off their wage bill

Reports suggest that Boehly is aiming to sell Lukaku to a team in the Saudi Pro League by the end of the season. Lukaku had previously turned down a move to Saudi Arabia last summer, but he later hinted at a shift in perspective, suggesting that the league could evolve into one of the top leagues globally.

Three weeks ago, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed Manchester rejected to move for Erling Haaland twice because they had Romelu Lukaku in their rank saccording to Sports Buddy.

While Lukaku is currently enjoying his time at Roma, he refrained from explicitly stating his desire to make the move permanent earlier this month, leaving his future at Chelsea uncertain.
