Pierre-Emile Højbjerg Collides with Referee During Denmark vs. Switzerland Match
The two nations met in a Copenhagen friendly having both already qualified for Euro 2024.
Despite limited starts for Tottenham this season, the Dane secured a spot in Denmark’s starting lineup for the match. However, his frustrations surfaced during the game.
In a particular instance, while chasing a loose ball near his own penalty area, the 28-year-old encountered referee Allard Lindhout blocking his path. Instead of attempting to maneuver around the official, the Danish midfielder chose to shove him, causing him to fall over.
Fans react to Hojbjerg bizzare moment
Reports from TheSun claims the incident did not escape the attention of spectators, with one fan expressing online: “This is the most memorable thing of his career.”
Another fan insisted: “That was definitely intentional!”
A third individual joked: “I’d have done the same.”
However, a fourth observer asserted: “He was too aggressive.”

Lucky Hojbjerg escapes punishment
Hojbjerg escaped punishment for the push, and the game resumed without interruption. He continued to play, completing 84 minutes before being substituted for Mathias Jensen from Brentford.
The match between Denmark and Switzerland ended in a goalless draw, characterized by a subdued atmosphere at the Parken Stadium.
Kasper Hjulmand’s team will resume action on Tuesday with a match against the Faroe Islands in Brøndby.
Following international duty, Højbjerg will return to Tottenham, who are set to host Luton Town in North London next Saturday.
Two weeks ago reports from Sports Buddy claims Luton defender Gabriel Osho, was called up to the Super Eagles team.
Despite starting only six Premier League games this season, the Dane has made 21 appearances off the bench. Although he was linked with moves to Newcastle and Juventus in January, no transfer materialized.
As his contract with Spurs enters its final year this summer, the player’s future remains uncertain.
