Newcastle has officially announced that Sandro Tonali is facing charges from the FA for suspected violations of betting regulations
The FA is investigating Sandro Tonali for offenses unrelated to those in Italy that led to his ten-month global suspension as reported by TalkSport in November.
The £55 million midfielder, acquired from AC Milan last summer, now faces allegations of violating betting regulations 50 times between August 12 and October 12, following his transfer to St James’ Park.
Tonali is reportedly cooperating with the FA, amidst concerns of potential additional penalties.
In a statement, Newcastle United acknowledged a misconduct charge against the Italian regarding alleged breaches of FA Betting Rules.
“Sandro continues to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigations, and he retains the club’s complete support,” the Magpies stated.
“Due to the ongoing nature of this process, neither Sandro nor Newcastle United are able to provide further comment at this time.”
