Jesse Lingard’s Work Ethic Questioned Again by South Korean Boss
Jesse Lingard’s move to South Korea continues to be a struggle, with FC Seoul manager Kim Ki-dong once again criticizing the former Manchester United player’s work ethic.
High Hopes Dashed?
Lingard’s arrival in Asia was met with much fanfare, with fans packing the stadium for his debut. However, manager Kim has been less impressed by the attacking midfielder’s contributions.

Despite the excitement surrounding his arrival, Lingard has yet to secure a starting position for FC Seoul.
Manager Questions Lingard’s Commitment
Kim, clearly frustrated, commented on Lingard: “I’ve seriously considered removing Jesse from the team. Frankly, I don’t believe a player who doesn’t put in the effort, even for a short period, deserves to be on the pitch he said according to TheSun, If he’s not willing to fight and doesn’t outrun a player putting in a full 90-minute effort, what does that say?”
With the K-League season underway, Lingard has seen limited action, appearing as a substitute in the first three games. He missed the most recent 1-1 draw against Gangwon due to a meniscus injury.
Lingard Posts Cryptic Message on Social Media
Despite his absence, Lingard took to social media to offer support to his teammates with an “In the era of loving myself more” message following a video clip showing him with a knee brace in his apartment.
Previous Criticism After Lackluster Performance
This isn’t the first time Lingard’s work ethic has been called into question by Kim. Following a recent 2-0 win, the manager criticized Lingard’s performance during a 30-minute substitute appearance.
“Even as a sub, he didn’t put in the hard work and avoided challenges,” said Kim. “Name recognition doesn’t mean anything on the field. I’ll be having a direct conversation with him about this.”
Struggles Continue for FC Seoul
FC Seoul currently sits in seventh place in the 12-team K-League, having only secured one win in their first four games. Lingard has yet to contribute a goal or assist for his new club.
