Reportedly, Chelsea is contemplating a surprising move to sell their captain, Reece James, this summer to adhere to financial fair play regulations and avoid potential points deductions.
The club recently disclosed a £90.1 million loss in 2023, prompting concerns about their compliance with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
To meet PSR requirements, selling homegrown academy players is perceived as the most straightforward solution, as such transactions translate into 100% pure profit. Consequently, Chelsea has been anticipated to part ways with Conor Gallagher and Ian Maatsen.
Reece James added to the list for sale
However, according to the Daily Post, Reece James is now also being considered for sale, with the club aiming to fetch over £60 million for the talented right-back.

Despite James’s significant value to Chelsea and his role as captain, the club’s leadership views him as expendable, believing that a substantial return could alleviate the club’s financial challenges.
Meanwhile Sports Buddy reported in other news that Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher was at the receiving end of severe backlash from fans as he declined to shake hands with a black kid in the tunnel. This incident occurred in the tunnel as Chelsea players were getting ready to take the field for their match against Burnley.
