Playground Argument Turns Tragic Incident in Lagos
A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Friday in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State. Two ten-year-old boys, identified only as Israel and Ezekiel, were playing football in their neighborhood when a seemingly harmless disagreement took a horrifying turn.
Argument Escalates During Football Match
According to police sources, the boys’ argument escalated to a physical altercation.
Police Report Details Strangulation
A police source told Punch that during the struggle, Israel allegedly grabbed Ezekiel by the neck and strangled him until he lost consciousness and stopped breathing.
“A complaint was filed at the Ejigbo Division on Friday,
” the source stated. “The report involved a 10-year-old boy named Israel who was playing football with other children when he got into an argument with another 10-year-old boy named Ezekiel. The argument turned physical, and Israel allegedly strangled Ezekiel until he died.”
Investigation Underway
The source added that a team of detectives visited the scene to document the incident and take photographs. Ezekiel’s body was transported to the General Hospital in the Isolo area. A medical examiner confirmed his death.
The tragic event was confirmed by Lagos State police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin.
“The body has been transferred to the morgue for a post-mortem examination,” Hundeyin stated. “The boy involved in the incident is currently in police custody, and a full investigation is underway.”
