Rangers-Devils Rematch Ignites Mayhem

The mayhem began with a grudge match. Fiery Rangers rookie Matt Rempe and Devils defenseman Kurtis MacDermid, with bad blood from a previous encounter, immediately dropped the gloves and started fighting after the faceoff. The situation escalated quickly, with all players on the ice joining the fray.

However, the main event remained between Rempe and MacDermid, whose fight continued even after others broke apart.

Heavy Penalties and Coaching Clash

The consequences were severe. Four players from each team were ejected for their roles in the brawl: Rempe, Jacob Trouba, K’Andre Miller, and Barclay Goodrow for the Rangers; and Kevin Bahl, John Marino, Chris Tierney, and MacDermid for the Devils.

The Rangers-Devils game had all eight players received game misconduct penalties. The brawl even spilled over to the coaches’ benches, with Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette and Devils interim coach Travis Green getting into a heated argument.

Rempe’s Notorious Brawling History

This wasn’t Rempe’s first brush with controversy. The 21-year-old has gained a reputation for brawling in his short NHL career, just ten games in.

Also according to Sports Buddy,a similar situation like the Rangers-Devils incident happened in the Turkish league featuring Super Eagles Bright Osayi-Samuel who was involved in the center of a brawl that happened between Fernebache and Trabzonspor has been cleared of any potential punishment.

In his three meetings with the Devils alone, he’s amassed a staggering 47 penalty minutes, two fights, and three game misconducts in a mere 5:03 of ice time. Devils coach Travis Green wasn’t shy about criticizing Rempe’s previous actions, calling them “predatory” and suggesting intentional injury.
