Cat Out of the Bag: QPR Mascot Fired for Flirting with Fans
QPR’s beloved mascot, Jude the Cat, has been sacked after reportedly crossing a line with his interactions with female fans during games.
Smooth Moves, Less Smooth Talk
While Jude was known for entertaining fans with his dance moves, a source at the club revealed he was “a bit of a smooth talker, too”. This “smooth talking” reportedly involved chatting up female fans and going beyond mascot duties.
According to TheSun, the source added that Jude received “a string of warnings telling him to stop chatting up match-goers and get on with his job” before being let go.
Fan Favorite Gets Feline Fouled
Despite his popularity with some fans who saw him as “the only thing worth watching at the West London ground”, Jude’s actions ultimately led to his dismissal. Many fans were left fuming, demanding the club “bring back the cat”.
A History of Nine Lives
The entertainer is named after a black cat, also named Jude, who once resided at Loftus Road and was considered a lucky charm by supporters. Ironically, in 2007, the mascot almost faced retirement due to the beliefs of then-owner Flavio Briatore, who is Italian and considers black cats unlucky.
Who’s the New Cat in Town?
The club has remained silent on the issue, but their website hints at a new mascot taking over Jude’s duties. A new face, or rather a feline figure, will be donning the Jude the Cat costume for the upcoming game against Sheffield Wednesday.
