Ex-Liverpool Star Ince Questions Mohamed Salah’s World-Class Status Despite Goalscoring Prowess
Mohamed Salah continues to be a driving force behind Liverpool’s Premier League title challenge under Jurgen Klopp. However, a former Red has ignited controversy with his take on the Egyptian winger’s skillset.
Ince: Goalscorer Yes, World-Class No?
Paul Ince, who donned the jerseys of both Liverpool and Manchester United during his playing career, has sparked a debate with his comments regarding Mohamed Salah.
Ince argues that while Salah is undeniably a world-class goalscorer, his technical abilities fall short of the true “world-class” designation.
Despite highlighting Salah’s impressive goalscoring record since joining Liverpool in 2016, Ince expressed his reservations in an interview with talkSPORT.
“There’s no doubt about his goalscoring ability,” Ince said. “His track record speaks for itself. But when it comes to technical skills on a world-class level, I’m not so sure.”
Ince elaborated on his point, citing Salah’s left-footed deliveries into the box as an area for improvement.
“Sometimes when he cuts inside and tries to cross with his left foot, they’re just not that great,” Ince observed. “However, in terms of scoring goals and influencing the game, he’s definitely world-class in that aspect.”

Ince’s Comments Counter Klopp’s Praise
Ince’s stance appears to directly contradict Jurgen Klopp’s earlier praise for Salah this season. Ahead of their FA Cup clash against Manchester United, Klopp showered Salah with compliments.
“Mo is pure quality,” Klopp said.
He elaborated on Salah’s importance to the team, “An exceptional player, world-class. We struggled when he wasn’t available.”
