Concerns have arisen among fans regarding a possible disagreement emerging between a prominent Chelsea player and fellow England teammates.
Chelsea star Lauren James’ social media unfollow sparks speculation
This speculation arose when Lauren James seemingly chose to unfollow fellow teammates Mary Earps and Ella Toone on social media.
Following a challenging performance against Manchester United in Sunday’s FA Women’s Cup semi-final, Chelsea’s Lauren James found herself in a controversial incident just before halftime.
With United leading 2-0 after goals from Lucia Garcia and Rachel Williams, James managed to pull one back with a goal right before the break. However, in her eagerness to retrieve the ball quickly for a restart, the England striker appeared to engage in an altercation with United’s Millie Turner, seemingly putting her in a headlock as Turner attempted to delay play.
Following the incident, Turner took a lighthearted approach, sharing a photo on her Instagram that captured James seemingly putting her in a headlock, alongside several other images. She captioned the post ‘KAMMOONNNN’. Later on, Turner reposted the same image onto her story, adding the message ‘See you at Wembley my reds’ accompanied by a heart-eye emoji and a heart emoji.
Fans on X (formerly Twitter) have recently highlighted that James, who previously endured racial abuse online following a yellow card incident involving Arsenal midfielder Lia Walti last year, has now unfollowed Turner, Toone, and Earps on social media.
Speculation surrounds England squad amid social media problems
According to reports from Daily Mail, speculation has arisen among certain fans regarding a potential division emerging within Sarina Wiegman’s England squad. One supporter voiced their concerns on social media, expressing uncertainty about the situation.
”I wonder if something else has gone down because Earps and Toone aren’t exactly fringe England players. I hope LJ is okay and I’m glad she’s protecting herself,” the fan said.
Other individuals have also criticized Turner’s Instagram post, with journalist Beth Fisher commenting on X (formerly Twitter) that the actions of the United defender were ‘totally classless’ and ‘immature’.
”I don’t know how many times I’ve seen footballers wrestle with the opposition for the ball but yet again there are vile comments towards Lauren James,” Fisher said.
”Turner’s subsequent social media stuff is totally immature and classless and has added to the pile on,” she added.
Meanwhile Sports Buddy in recent news reported that Chelsea male team players, involving Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson, almost got physical over penalty duties.
