Arsenal Leaked Kit Design Sparks Mockery

Images believed to be of Arsenal’s next season home jersey have gone viral, but not for the reasons the club might have hoped. Rival fans, particularly those from Tottenham, have seized on the design’s red section, claiming it bears an uncanny resemblance to a bottle.

On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), an account called Football Headlines shared the images. The kit features blue side panels accompanying the traditional red body and white sleeves. However, it wasn’t long before the internet took notice of the seemingly unfortunate shape.

Bottle Jokes Flow Freely

One user couldn’t resist a simple yet effective comment: “The red part looks like bottle,” accompanied by laughing emojis. Tottenham supporters took things a step further, with one posting a picture of a red bottle and another writing: “Love the bottle design in the middle… #AdidasKnows #Bottlers,” complete with crying laughter emojis.

The placement of the shirt in some of the leaked photos added fuel to the fire. “Bottle on the wall? Amazing haha,” another Tottenham fan gleefully noted.

Even Gooners See the Funny Side

Arsenal’s struggles to convert promising situations into trophies have earned them the unfortunate nickname “bottlers” among fans. This reputation wasn’t lost on some Arsenal supporters (Gooners) themselves. One commented: “Even Adidas is making fun of us ‘bottling,'” acknowledging the resemblance between the shirt and the team’s struggles.

Another X (formerly Twitter) user took a more lighthearted approach, suggesting the design would “continue the legacy.”

A Season of Disappointment Fuels the Jokes

The online mockery stems from Arsenal’s recent shortcomings. After leading the Premier League for much of last season, the Gunners ultimately fell short. This season has seen a similar pattern unfold, with Arsenal relinquishing top spot after a loss to Aston Villa and crashing out of the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich.

Manager Mikel Arteta acknowledged this week that the recent period has “not been the best experience,” but vowed that Arsenal remain committed to the title race, starting with their upcoming match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
