West Ham Eye New Boss as Moyes’ Future Remains Uncertain
West Ham United are actively searching for a new manager to potentially replace David Moyes at the end of the season, and have set sights on Sporting Boss Ruben Amorim.
Moyes on the Outgoing?
Moyes’ contract expires at the conclusion of the current campaign, and his future with the Hammers remains unclear. The club has begun exploring alternatives with talks already underway with potential candidates.
Amorim Emerges as Frontrunner
West Ham are setting their sights high, reportedly holding discussions with Ruben Amorim, the current manager of Portuguese league leaders Sporting Lisbon.
Ruben Amorim is also believed to be the favorite to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, making him a highly sought-after manager. Tim Steidten, West Ham’s technical director, is spearheading the search and views Amorim as the ideal candidate.
Ruben Amorim’s Interest and Other Options
Ruben Amorim is reportedly open to the West Ham job and has a release clause in his Sporting contract. However, he is taking his time with the decision due to the significant managerial interest surrounding him.
West Ham have previously expressed interest in Lille boss Paulo Fonseca and former Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier. Galtier was nearly appointed by West Ham last year but currently manages Qatari club Al-Duhail. Additionally, former Bayern Munich and Germany manager Hansi Flick was spotted attending a match at the London Stadium this season.
Moyes Offered Contract Extension
It’s important to note that no formal offers have been made to any potential manager at this stage. West Ham offered Moyes a new two-and-a-half-year deal in December following victories over Manchester United and Arsenal. However, negotiations stalled after a period of poor form in January.
Moyes Frustrated, Players Focused
Moyes has expressed annoyance at recent questions regarding his future, while club sources maintain that a final decision won’t be made until the season ends.
The club initially offered the contract extension in December, but talks stalled after a dip in form.
While Moyes insists he’s relaxed about the situation, and the players remain focused on upcoming matches, the club was hoping for a strong finish after their Europa League exit.
Recent Defeat Strengthens Doubts
West Ham’s recent 5-2 defeat to Crystal Palace has undoubtedly weakened Moyes’ position. Following the match, he strongly criticized his players and refused to discuss his future.
Liverpool Close In On Klopp Replacement After Verbal Agreement with Ruben Amorim
Moyes acknowledged the team’s poor performance and expressed disappointment for the fans. He also hinted at a potential decline in the team’s fighting spirit, suggesting a return to their previous toughness is necessary.
West Ham’s chances of securing European football next season could determine Moyes’ fate. However, with the team currently in eighth place and their rivals holding games in hand, the outlook appears challenging.
