Dwight Yorke Advises Chelsea Starlet Palmer to Stay Put
Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke believes Chelsea’s young forward Cole Palmer should stay put at Stamford Bridge despite the club’s struggles this season.
Yorke: Palmer Not Guaranteed Trophies Elsewhere
Yorke, impressed by Palmer’s 23 goals in all competitions for Chelsea, downplayed the possibility of an immediate move leading to silverware.
“There would be no point in Cole Palmer leaving Chelsea for Arsenal because they’re not winning any trophies either, it wouldn’t make any difference,” Yorke told Crypto Casino LTD.
Building a Legacy at Chelsea
Yorke suggests that Palmer has an opportunity to establish himself as a key player at Chelsea and contribute to the club’s revival.
“He wouldn’t go to Liverpool who will be transitioning under a new manager and team,” Yorke continued. “Palmer needs to stay and become the top dog of the club, build his reputation and be the man to move the club forward.”
Don’t Be Tempted by Big Names
Yorke cautions Palmer against prioritizing established teams with star players.
“Sometimes, players can be quick to move to a more successful or bigger club, but players can be the main man to take these clubs up a level,” he said. “At Liverpool, he won’t ever be a bigger player than Mo Salah or Virgil van Dijk.”
Yorke’s Advice for Palmer
Yorke advises Palmer to focus on his development with the blues, highlighting potential future scenarios.
“My advice for Palmer is to stay at Chelsea,” Yorke emphasized. “Imagine Zinedine Zidane goes to Chelsea next year and Palmer leaves, it wouldn’t work out for him.”
While acknowledging his own interest in seeing Palmer at Manchester United, Yorke recognizes the complexities of such a move.
“I’d love Man United to sign him, but I don’t think that will be the case because of his Man City connection, he’s too young to deal with that,” Yorke admitted.
Yorke concludes by underlining the importance of sustained success.
“Also, it’s only his first full professional season, let’s see if he can do it over multiple years.”
