Salah and Klopp Clash Sparks Shearer’s Criticism
Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against West Ham was overshadowed by a heated argument between manager Jurgen Klopp and star player Mohamed Salah.
Frustration Boils Over as Salah Dropped
The Egyptian forward, benched for the game due to a recent dip in form, visibly expressed his anger towards his manager on the touchline while waiting to be subbed in.
Salah’s frustration stemmed from being left out of the starting lineup, a decision Shearer believes was justified.
“He’s obviously got the right hump with being left out and probably rightly so,” said Shearer on BBC’s Match of the Day. “Even though he hasn’t hit the heights… he’s been unbelievable.”
Shearer Suggests Klopp Inadvertently Ignited Salah’s Anger
While acknowledging Salah’s disappointment, Shearer speculates that Klopp’s pre-match comments might have unintentionally aggravated the situation.
“We don’t know what Klopp has said to him there, he’s said something that has riled him,” Shearer said.
Salah Refuses to Address the Incident
Following the match, Salah refused to speak to reporters, hinting at his lingering anger. “If I speak today there will be fire,” he was quoted as saying.
Klopp Attempts to Downplay the Disagreement
The Liverpool manager downplayed the incident, stating that he had spoken to Salah in the dressing room and considered the matter closed.
“We spoke already in the dressing room and for me it’s done for me,” The Liverpool Manager said. “That’s all and that is it.”
With three games remaining in the season, Liverpool will be hoping to move forward from this on-field disagreement and focus on securing a positive finish to the campaign.
