Ahead of their Champions League clash, footage of Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni engaging in a playful dispute over Bayern Munich’s Eric Dier has resurfaced.

Despite being teammates at Real Madrid, the pair couldn’t agree on the merits of Dier versus Dayot Upamecano.

Eyebrows were raised when 30-year-old Eric Dier joined Thomas Tuchel’s side on loan from Tottenham. However, Dier has become an ever-present figure in Bayern’s defense, outshining talents like Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano.

Tuchel’s praise for Dier

Ahead of Bayern’s recent win over Eintracht Frankfurt, Tuchel lauded Dier’s impact, labeling him as an ‘important piece of the jigsaw.’ The former Chelsea manager highlighted Dier’s organizational skills and vocal presence, emphasizing his unexpected success since joining the team.

The back and forth commenced with Bellingham saying, ”It’s amazing right.’ To which Tchouameni replied: ‘We don’t care.”

Unexpected debate and Dier’s resurgence

The debate between Bellingham and Tchouameni would have seemed unlikely at the beginning of the season, and perhaps even just a few months ago.

However, Dier’s consistent performance in crucial matches for Tuchel’s team contrasts sharply with Upamecano’s notable errors this season.

Prior to Bayern’s 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, Tuchel praised Dier’s impact, describing him as a vital addition to the squad. Tuchel expressed his satisfaction with Dier’s performance, stating that he has surpassed expectations and become an integral part of the team.

Since earning a spot in the starting lineup for Die Roten, Dier has featured in 14 out of 16 games, contributing to Bayern’s continued success. As a result, Dier’s loan has been converted into a permanent deal.
