Chelsea’s Recent Form Boosts Pochettino’s Job Security
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino might be breathing a sigh of relief as recent positive results appear to have impressed co-owner Todd Boehly.
Upward Trend Secures Crucial Points
The Blues are currently unbeaten in four of their last five matches, a surge in form that has seen them climb to seventh place in the Premier League table.
This recent run has brought them within touching distance of European qualification, with Newcastle United just ahead in sixth place. Victories against Tottenham (2-0) and West Ham (5-0) have been particularly impressive.
Board Expectations and Past Scrutiny
Despite the recent turnaround, the pressure remains on Pochettino’s shoulders. The demanding Chelsea board had higher expectations, especially considering the significant investment made in transfers during previous windows.

Furthermore, Pochettino’s relationship with the board and sporting directors, Paul Winstanley and Lawrence Stewart, has been under scrutiny in recent months. The Argentine manager himself hinted at communication issues with the ownership, adding to speculation about his future at Stamford Bridge.
Boehly Praises “Beautiful Football”
However, a recent statement from Boehly offers a lifeline to Pochettino. Speaking at a Sportico conference in Los Angeles, Boehly highlighted his appreciation for the team’s recent performances.

“We’ve seen the last two and a half games… where we played just beautiful football,” Boehly remarked. He elaborated on the team’s fluidity, organization, and attacking threat, noting a positive shift in media commentary as well.
Easier Fixtures and European Hopes
Chelsea now faces a relatively favorable run-in to the end of the Premier League season. Fixtures against Bournemouth, Brighton, and relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest present an opportunity to maximize points. If Chelsea can secure a perfect haul of nine points and Newcastle falter, the Blues could find themselves back in European competition next season.
