Casemiro Disappoints, Chelsea Entertains: Troy Deeney’s Premier League Verdict
Former Watford striker Troy Deeney has given his take on the Premier League season, highlighting a major disappointment at Manchester United and a surprisingly entertaining team to watch.
Casemiro Fails to Deliver at Manchester United
Troy Deeney believes Manchester United’s Casemiro has been the biggest flop of the season. While acknowledging Casemiro’s age and limitations in terms of mobility, Troy Deeney expected the experienced midfielder to provide leadership and consistency for the Red Devils.
“I never expected him to have the legs or to run around everywhere, or to be the best defensive midfielder in the world,” Deeney said speaking to The Sun “[But] I did expect for him to use his vast experience and know-how at Manchester United to get them through tough times and to be a consistent presence.”
Deeney feels Casemiro hasn’t lived up to these expectations and blames him in part for Manchester United’s struggles.
Chelsea’s Entertaining Inconsistency
Despite a disappointing season for Manchester United, Troy Deeney has found himself surprisingly entertained by Chelsea. The Blues’ unpredictable form, according to Deeney, makes them a joy to watch for neutral fans.
“Weirdly, it’s Chelsea, purely because of their inconsistencies – never knowing which Chelsea is going to turn up when,” Deeney said when asked about his favorite team to watch this season.

Deeney believes Chelsea offers a welcome change from the dominant but sometimes “dull and efficient” Manchester City.
“They’re a great watch for the neutral, even when they’re awful,” Deeney said. “That’s what this league needs at times. Not everyone can be as dull and efficient as Manchester City. We need that variety and madness – and that’s what Chelsea bring.”
Deeney is impressed by Chelsea’s individual talent and manager Mauricio Pochettino, and is curious to see if they can maintain their entertainment value while achieving better results next season.
