Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has urged the Gunners to sign Victor Osimhen.
Following another unsuccessful Premier League campaign, the North London club is anticipated to bring in a new striker.
Osimhen, who is expected to depart from Napoli this season, has a release clause in the range of €120 to €130 million.
Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea are among the clubs linked with the Nigerian striker.
Since his high-profile move to Napoli in 2020, Osimhen has been impressive, scoring 76 goals in 132 appearances across all competitions.
Petit tips Victor Osimhen to succeed at Arsenal
Petit believes that Osimhen would be a valuable addition to the Arsenal squad.
“I think Arsenal need a 30-goal striker to finally win the Premier League and that man could be Victor Osimhen, who has been amazing with Lille and then Napoli,” Petit told Boylesports.
“His dream is to come to England and he could be brilliant here. He’s physically so strong and is an out and out number nine, so he’d be my first choice,” he said, as per Daily Post.
Petit’s assessment highlights the necessity for Arteta to strengthen the squad significantly to compete with Pep Guardiola’s formidable team. However, the former Gunner has also suggested that the Nigerian striker might be more inclined to join Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain.
