The newly released Premier League Fans Team of the Season list has sparked controversy on social media with many supporters frowning at the omission of one player they believed had earned a right to be on the list.

Following an intriguing season, the Premier League official account on X (formerly Twitter), recently posted the list, which was decided by fan votes, using a 4-4-2 formation, with the caption, ”You voted these 11 Premier League stars as your 2023/24 Fan Team of the Season!”.
Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Raya was voted to man the post, while the backline was dominated by fellow teammates, with Ben White in the right back position, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães both pairing at centre back. Liverpool’s Trent Alexander Arnold was placed at the leftback position.
The midfield area had Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, and Manchester City trio in Rodri, Kevin Debruyne and Premier League Player of the Season Phil Foden.
Meanwhile, the attack was occupied by Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

Fans react to newly-released Premier League fan Team of the season
The newly-released team of the season has sparked controversy on socialmedia as many fans believe Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice deserve to be on the list in place of Kevin Debruyne. However, other fans argued that the Arsenal star is overhyped and has done nothing exceptional to displace the Belgian midfileder.
One fan said,”Where is Declan? What is KDB doing in there he wasn’t better that Declan and he was injured so long period of time.”
Another commented, ”Odegaard was better than KDB this season. I’m surprise we’ve not see Declan Rice in this team! TAA is as surprised as I am that he’s in the team.”
A third remarked, ”Rice should be replacing KDB and no way Arnold made the list”
A fourth said, ”Declan rice should be there not De Bryune. When did Trent become a leftback?
Another user said, ”Odegaard or Rice ahead of De Bruyne and we are set”
In response to these reactions, other fans argued that Debruyne should rightfully be on the list, as he has been one of the best performers since his return in January.
One Debruyne supporter said, ”This is why De Bruyne is the greatest PL player of all time”
Another commented, ”Who is Declan?.. KDB >>>
A third said, ”KDB with less games had more assists than odegaard, Rice, havertz, Martinelli, jesus, trossard uno.. He’s bigger than Arsenal.”

Following his record breaking transfer mover to Arsenal, the former Westham captain has proven to be worth the price tag. Rice was instrumental for Arsenal, scoring important goals and winning duels in the midfield. He scored seven goals and provided nine assists in the just concluded EPL season.

Debruyne spent half of the season on the sidelines as a result a hamstring injury which ruled him out for four months. Despite his absence for half of the season, the 32-year-old midfielder amassed an incredible 4 goals and 10 assists in 18 league appearances, helping Manchester City clinch their fourth consecutive Premier League trophy.
