Former Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani had a moment to forget during Boca Juniors’ Copa Sudamericana match against Nacional Potosi on Wednesday.
Cavani, who joined Boca last summer after spending two years at Old Trafford between 2020 and 2022, has had a good start to life in Argentina, but in his most recent game for the team, he missed a chance.
Edinson Cavani’s shocking miss
He appeared to be headed for a definite goal as he dashed into the penalty area, but somehow tapped the ball wide only from three yards, despite having the entire goal to aim for.
Cavani collapsed to his knees in shock as he found himself in the net, instead of the ball.
The Uruguayan swiftly got back up to his feet, while his manager applauded the team’s beautiful move leading to the chance. However, Edinson Cavani’s shocking miss is a surprising mistake from one of the best attackers in the modern era of football.

Luckily for Cavani, his horrible miss did not come back to haunt him as they defeated their Bolivian opponents 4-0.
Cavani did manage to find the net in the fourteenth minute, while Marcos Rojo, another former United player, completed the scoring in the second half.
