UEFA Champions League Team of the Season
UEFA has announced the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League Team of the Season, as selected by its panel of technical observers. The line-up features Gregor Kobel; Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, Mats Hummels, Ian Maatsen; Marcel Sabitzer, Jude Bellingham, Vitinha; Phil Foden, Harry Kane, and Vinicius Junior. Several Real Madrid players, from the club that secured its 15th title, are included.
Individual Awards and Real Madrid’s Dominance

Vinicius Junior was named Player of the Season, and Jude Bellingham was honored as the competition’s Best Young Player. The team includes key figures from Real Madrid’s victorious campaign.
Player Performances
Goalkeeper: Gregor Kobel The 26-year-old Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper, signed from Stuttgart, has shown stability and made impressive saves despite his team’s final loss at Wembley.
Right-back: Dani Carvajal Carvajal opened the scoring in the final and demonstrated his longevity and reliability in world football, contributing to Real Madrid’s successes.
Centre-backs: Antonio Rudiger and Mats Hummels Rudiger, a free-agent acquisition by Real Madrid, has become a fan favorite after his successful stint at Chelsea. Hummels, despite not avenging his loss in the final against Bayern Munich, remains a celebrated defender in Germany.

Left-back: Ian Maatsen Maatsen, on loan from Chelsea, had a strong season in Germany and is expected to play a significant role under Enzo Maresca in London.
Midfielders: Marcel Sabitzer, Jude Bellingham, and Vitinha Sabitzer’s career revival has been marked by strong performances. Bellingham has had an outstanding first season at Real Madrid, and Vitinha has excelled at Paris Saint-Germain, becoming a key player under Luis Enrique.
Right winger: Phil Foden Listed as a right winger by UEFA, Foden has been versatile and influential for Manchester City, particularly in their Champions League campaign.
Striker: Harry Kane Kane’s prolific scoring, with eight goals in 12 Champions League games, capped off a remarkable season with 44 goals in 45 games in total.
Left winger: Vinicius Junior Vinicius has continually improved his game, silencing critics and establishing himself as a top talent. His performance suggests he could be in contention for a Ballon d’Or soon.
