Gareth Southgate is certain that he can include Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham in his squad for this summer’s Euros.
Bellingham, 20, had an impressive debut season at the Bernabeu, helping the Spanish giants to the La Liga title and the Champions League. He was also named La Liga’s Player of the Year thanks to his 20 goals.
Phil Foden helped Manchester City clinch their fourth consecutive league title. He scored 19 league goals and won two Footballer of the Year honors from the Premier League and the Football Writers’ Association.

The 24-year-old midfielder has proven to be a menace when deployed into the midfield position, having previously made it clear that he prefers the role, and that is where he sees himself in Southgate’s setup.
As Southgate looks for a winning formula, England supporters are worried that they may not see the best of one or both of them at the Euros this summer.
It seems improbable that the England manager will select Declan Rice as the No. 6 and Bellingham and Foden as the dual No. 8s to pair the Arsenal man in midfield.
It is far more likely that Southgate would stick with his 4-2-3-1 formation, which was effective in England’s match with Belgium, with Bellingham starting at No. 10 and Foden on the left.

Although Foden would not be happy with that, Southgate thinks he will end up making changes to his team during the Euros rather than being limited to a single starting lineup and formation.
“Definitely. Jude’s obviously playing the season very high up the pitch for Madrid. Defensively a bit of a mix.
“What he hasn’t done is played as a 6. Or as a lower 8. It’s a while since he’s done that and we’ve got to bear that in mind when we’re thinking of trying to do something in the space of four or five days,” Southgate said, as per The Mirror.
Who could displace Phil Foden from his preferred role?

Southgate’s statement indicating Bellingham is definitely going to start as an attacking midfielder, coupled with the unlikelyhood of both players pairing Rice in the middle, leaves Foden’s chances of starting in the midfield in doubt.
The expected 4-2-3-1 formation would definitely require a holding midfielder who is also good with defensive duties off the ball to pair with Declan Rice, for compactness in the middle.
Many fans believe England has found a perfect fit for this role, with many clamouring to see Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton in the starting lineup following his impressive performance when he came on against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday.
