Oleksandr Usyk Names Chisora as the Hardest Puncher He’s Faced
Oleksandr Usyk has identified Derek Chisora as the hardest hitter he has ever faced, placing him ahead of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. The undefeated Ukrainian recently solidified his reputation as the world’s top heavyweight by winning a points decision over Fury in Saudi Arabia.
Usyk’s Journey to Heavyweight Dominance
At 37, Usyk’s journey to heavyweight dominance began after a successful reign as the undisputed world champion at cruiserweight. Moving up to the heavyweight division in 2019, Usyk’s initial challenge was a routine win over Chazz Witherspoon. His first significant test, however, came against former world title challenger Derek Chisora, whom he defeated by unanimous decision.
That victory set Usyk on a path to a world title fight against Anthony Joshua. Usyk triumphed over Joshua twice and later defeated Daniel Dubois before his highly anticipated bout with Fury. [One punch landed] on the gloves and I said, ‘Oh my God.’ Like a baseball bat.’”
