Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero was spotted squaring up to an opponent during a heated altercation at The Soccer Tournament (TST).
Sergio Aguero’s return to football
The 7v7 tournament, which is being played in North Carolina, USA, will see 48 teams compete against one another, with the opportunity to earn a cash prize of £782,000 ($1 million).
After its first season the previous year, the event has now invited even more famous participants this time around, including legendary Premier League player Sergio Aguero.
The 36-year-old Argentine starred for the suitably named “Aguero Team”.
Sergio Aguero’s heated confrontation
However, in the group stage against Say Word FC, Aguero was seen engaging in a heated confrontation with an opponent, Brandon Rothfuss, whom he believed had tackled him too roughly, as per The Sun.
Aguero, who was seen playing in Manchester City’s 2024–25 uniform, fell to the ground in response to the challenge as Rothfuss seemed to leave a leg in.
The former Argentine forward was seen speaking at Rothfuss after standing up, shoving him, and striking out at his leg.
The Say Word goalie, Ramius Stiehler, attempted to break up the altercation between Rothfuss and Aguero when the latter shoved Rothfuss with both arms.
The referee then halted play to address the situation after Lucas Fernandez of the ”Aguero Team” joined in the altercation by pushing Rothfuss. Aguero then rolled down his sock and pointed out to the referee the mark that Rothfuss’s previous challenge had left on his shin.
However, Rothfuss ended up having the last laugh, as ”Say Word” defeated ”Aguero Team” 6-3.
Aguero’s heart ailment caused him to retire from professional football in 2021. Despite his absence from the limelight, he continues to entertain followers with live streaming on his Twitch account, which featured a live broadcast of the FA Cup final between him and Manchester United.
