Major media houses are under fire for what appears to be racist treatment of Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka, according to many football fans.
The Three Lions of England had a disappointing last pre-Euro 2024 game, losing by a lone goal to Iceland at Wembly. This result came as a huge shock, as England are tipped favourites to win the tournament by bookies.
Fans blast media houses over Bukayo Saka treatment

Amid the disappointing result, fans noticed a pattern in the way some major media houses reported the news, with Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka being used as the poster boy, despite playing just 25 minutes in the game.
Many tagged it as subtle racism, as they believe it was a deliberate act by the media to paint a certain picture, which might eventually register in people’s subconscious. Some even suggested other players who could have been used as the face of defeat instead of the 22-year-old winger.

One fan on X said, ”Bukayo Saka came on as a substitute for 25 minutes. My God, they’re going to tear him down into pieces. The hate started from Twitter trolls and now the English press have joined in.”
Another said, ”Foden & Palmer dropped the stinker of a life time yet Saka who came in as a sub is the face of the defeat. We are all thinking it but I rather not speak…”
