Ryan Bertrand, who was part of the Chelsea squad that won the Champions League in 2012, has announced his retirement, following an injury-plagued career,
Having joined Leicester on a free transfer from Southampton in 2021, the 34-year-old has been without a club since leaving the team last year.

After battling injuries, Bertrand made just 11 appearances for the Foxes before deciding to “clarify” his status live on Sky Sports.
”So, just to make that official I am retiring and very much looking forward to the next steps in my career,” the former Southampton leftback said, according to Sky sports on X.
Bertrand’s career at Chelsea, Southamption and Leicester

Bertrand began his career at Stamford Bridge, where he made 57 appearances for the Blues between 2010 and 2013.
He won the Champions League while he was a Chelsea player. Starting the 2012 final, he contributed to the Blues’ penalty-filled victory over Bayern Munich.
Throughout his career, Bertrand also made 19 appearances for England, scoring one for the Three Lions.
The 34-year-old fullback played most of his career with Southampton, where he made 240 appearances before moving to Leicester, where he made just 11 appearances dur to injury problems.
Bertrand ended his career as an FA Cup, Europa League, and the Champions League winner.
