Nigeria FIFA rankings
The three-time African champions has fallen in the FIFA rankings for the second time in a row after falling two spots in the April rating in 2024.
During their World Cup qualifying game the Super Eagles drew 1-1 with South Africa and a few days later were humiliated 2-1 by Benin.
After those two losses, the Super Eagles’ chances of making it to the next World Cup were seriously threatened.

Nigeria were hoping to use their AFCON performance to boost their FIFA ranking but their recent performance has affected their ranking.
However, despite the low ranking, the Super Eagles are still above fellow African teams Ghana, South Africa Cameroon and others on the list.
Curently, Cameroon are placed in 49th position, South Africa are in 59th position while Ghana are in 64th position.
Argentina is still the top-ranked team overall, ahead of Brazil, Belgium, France, and England in the top five.
