According to reports, Italian football Legend Roberto Baggio was taken to the hospital after being robbed while watching his nation lose to Spain at Euro 2024.
Corriere del Veneto reports that at about 10 p.m. on Thursday, a group of five armed thugs burst into his family’s house.
Baggio made an attempt to approach one of them, but following a brief altercation, the former Juventus player was struck in the head with a gun’s butt.
The former midfield player suffered a head injuries, and his family was thereafter confined to a room. After that, the thieves stole watches, jewelry, and cash from the residence.
Baggio contacted the police after breaking down the door to the room his family was locked in after the burglars had left. He was then taken to the hospital where the injury was stitched.
Roberto Baggio’s football career
The 57-year-old played for Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter Milan—the three most successful teams in Italy—during his whole professional career.
He signed with Juventus in 1990, and in his last season there, he won both the Coppa Italia and the Serie A championship.
Baggio had an illustrious career for both club and country scoring 277 and 27 goals respectively.
