Erik Ten Hag and Manchester United are almost ready to finalize a new two-year deal for about £27 million, according to The Mirror.
Ten Hag has accepted in principle to the new contract extension. Earlier this month, he received the go-ahead to remain as United’s manager.
Erik Ten Hag’s new contract
Ten Hag, who had one year remaining on his previous £9 million-a-year contract, will remain at United until 2027 thanks to the new agreement. The new agreement’s conditions are reportedly being finalized by United and Ten Hag’s officials; confirmation of the agreement is anticipated this week.
Reorganizing United’s coaching staff is one of the provisions of the new agreement, with former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy expected to return to the club as a member of Ten Hag’s coaching crew.
During an end-of-season evaluation, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his new football management team spoke with prospective Ten Hag successors, with former Bayern Munich boss Tomas Tuchel reportedly considered as a replacement. However, the deal did not fall through.
After almost three weeks of deliberation, United chose to remain with Ten Hag and informed the 54-year-old that his job was secure while he was on vacation in Ibiza.
The decision to stick with the Dutchman came with a new contract, which is close to being finalised.
