Sevilla FC has been negotiating personal terms with Arsenal central midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga in view of striking a deal with Arsenal. Mikel Arteta could potentially let go of multiple first-team players in an attempt to have a slightly revamped team during the summer.
Arsenal’s Squad Overhaul
Arteta had the luxury of the first eleven last season, which meant some players were hardly included in the matchday squad. For example, Aaron Ramsdale may leave Arsenal following the signing of David Raya as he will need another role in the first team elsewhere.
According to the latest reports, Arsenal are close to identifying a replacement for the English shot-stopper.
Sevilla hunt Lokonga
Lokonga Albert Sambi was signed by Arteta for 17 million pounds in 2021 and was loaned to Luton Town last season where he performed “unbelievable” when fit. Now back at Arsenal, the 24-year-old needs to go on another loan spell.
Lokonga has emerged as a target for Sevilla for the 2024/25 season as revealed by Spanish outlet Penalty. Sevilla is ready to pay Arsenal €3m fee for the loan but the Gunners are insisting on having a compulsory buy clause which Sevilla also wants to be an optional one.
Journalist Maximo de la Cruz Ramirez shared the update: “This is the deal between Sevilla and Lokonga Sevilla FC will pay the price which is €3m Now they are on the negotiation of reaching a deal with Arsenal who wanted the clause to be mandatory while Sevilla has a different opinion”.
