According to reports, a football pitch collapsed, leaving a wide sinkhole at the centre of the field.
The hole which was 100 feet wide and 30 feet deep, was captured in a security footage from Alton, Illinois. Fortunately no casualty was recorded, even though seats and a light post were sucked up.
Reason for the football pitch collapse revealed

According to local sources, it was caused by a New Frontier Materials underground mine.
“No one was injured in the incident, which has been reported to officials at the Mine Safety Health Administration in accordance with applicable regulations,” a New Frontier Materials representative said, as per The Sun.
“Safety is our top priority. We will work with the city to remediate this issue as quickly and safely as possible to ensure minimal impact on the community.”
According to the US Geological Survey, sinkhole losses during the past 15 years have cost at least $300 million annually on average.
Since sinkhole expenses are not tallied nationwide, the actual amount is probably far greater.
Alabama is thought to be home to the greatest sinkhole that have collapsed recently.
