Roberto Landi the former head coach of Liberia has shown his interest toward the post of Super Eagles ‘coach saying that it is his dream to coach the Nigerian team because it is full of talented footballers and the nation is known to have a lot of passion for the sport.
NFF Seeks Foreign Coach
It came to light recently that the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is looking for a technical consultant for their team and this is due to the poor performance of the team in the 2026 World Cup qualifier.
This led former coach George Finidi to resign from his post after the Super Eagles has been held to a 1-1 draw with the South Africans and a 2-1 loss to Benin Republic respectively.
The Nigerian-born tactician Finidi had taken over from the Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro who led the team to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Speaking to PUNCH, Landi feels he fits the requirements for the Super Eagles job saying, “Everyone will agree that it is a dream for a coach to handle a top class senior team like Nigeria.
” Landi started as a goalkeeper with Piacenza’s youth team in 1966 and graduated through Modena, Ravenna, Siena and through the North American Soccer League.
From 1990 and 1994, Landi started coaching as goalkeeper trainer of the United States of America national team after retiring at the age 30.
He has coached teams that include Georgia U21, Lithuania U21, National Bucharest, Qatar U21, FC Sopron, Livingston and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
He served as head coach for the Liberia national football team in 2011, until his dismissal in 2012. His latest posting was with Rimini, an Italian lower tier club from which he left in 2017.
