Amids reports of a possibility of joining Arsenal, Brazilian forward Neymar‘s comment where he stated the four Premier League teams he would play for has further fueled belief of a posible move to the league.
In a £77.4 million agreement that earned him £157 million a season, the attacker went to Al-Hilal of the Saudi League last year. His Saudi pay day, however, hasn’t exactly gone as planned.
The attacker was sidelined for the season as well as the Copa America competiton for Brazil after suffering a horrific ACL injury in October of last year.
The Brazilian has only made five appearances for Al-Hilal.
Gilberto’s wish
Given Neymar’s difficulties in Saudi Arabia, Gilberto Silva, the legendary Arsenal player, stated that it’s “not impossible” for the striker to join Arsenal.
What Neymar said
It happened after Neymar made a public statement naming Arsenal as one of the teams he wished to play for while still with Barcelona.
The Brazilian said in 2017, “The Premier League is a championship that amazes me.
“I like the playing style and the teams. And who knows? Someday, I would like to play [in] it, yes. I admire Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool – these are the teams that are always there fighting,” Netmar said, as per The Sun.
Neymar’s potential Premier League move and impact on all listed clubs
With his 2017 comment, possibilities of joining a Premier League club might not be far fetched as the Al Hilal attacker had initially expressed interest in the league.
Arsenal
The striking position might be the Gunners’ main target this summer, however Neymar’s addition into the team will no doubt strengthen the attack.
Gabriel Martinelli struggled on the left wing last season, failing to replicate 2022/2023 success, and Leandro Trossard is not the most direct of wingers.
Neymar could bring something different to the team as he is one of the best one on one dribblers in the world, coupled with his impressive goal records.
Chelsea
Chelsea signed Mykhailo Mudryk for a huge amount in January 2023. However, the pacy winger has failed to live up to expectations, managing just seven goals in 66 caps for Chelsea.
Also, Raheem Sterling, who also plays on the right wing, seems to have gone past his best years.
Neymar’s addition to the team will no doubt bring quality to the right flank. Also, the Brazilian forward is versatile and can play as an attacking midfielder or a supporting striker, depending on the team setup.
Liverpool
Neymar’s quality is top-class, enough for him to stroll into any Premier League team’s starting lineup when fit, and Liverpool is no exception. Should he stay fit, he has enough qualities to displace Luis Diaz from the flanks,
Manchester United
With Marcus Rashford’s dip in form, coupled with uncertainties over the future of the England forward, Neymar’s addition would sound as a good idea.
