Gareth Southgate to start Mainoo
Southgate has come underfire for his tactics and matchday selections, with fans suggesting he should makes some changes in order to accomodate Mainoo and Cole Palmer in his first XI.
However, England boss will most likely favour Mainoo in his starting line up, with Palmer set begin the game from the bench, according to reports from Sky Sports.
Mainoo, who entered the game at halftime in the goalless draw with Slovenia, made an impression and will make his third start for his country.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Gallagher have failed to impress in England’s midfield, and Southgate thinks the 19-year-old’s pairing with Declan Rice will provide much-needed control and balance.
Luke Shaw, meanwhile, has resumed full training and is expected to start the match as a substitute for Slovakia as England attempts to turn around their dismal recent results.
