Belgium FA has apologized over Amadou Onana choral performance about a chant on Kylian Mbappe before the Euro 2024 match against France.
The two teams qualified to the level from group B where they finished second and will face each other in Dusseldorf on Monday night in the last 16.
Amadou Onana Controversial Chant
The subsequent outrage started when Amadou Onana, an Everton midfielder was seen in a social media video where Pablo Andres the comedian asked a question, “Who is going to kick Mbappe on the shin Amadou Onana responded by humming his name.
Press officer of the Belgian football team Stefan Van Loock also personally apologized for the video, saying that originally, they did not attack anyone, as they collaborated with comedian Pablo Andres for a long time, and this video was also intended to be humorous.

They also removed the video due to the misunderstanding and any further offense that it may cause… It was our fault for misjudging it; for us, it does end here.
Preparing for the Clash
This turns a match that was already dubbed volatile due to history into a much more confrontational fight, a repeat of the 2018 World Cup semi-final where France emerged victorious 1-0.
Johan Bakayoko, the PSV winger is of the opinion that the match is going to turn out to be a tightly contested one even though France has been given the upper hand by the bookmaker.
“Honestly, speaking I do not believe that there is such thing as favourite,” he responded. ”We both have our good points and our bad points as does any other team We both hate each other’s guts.”
Both Teams Confident
Bakayoko emphasized the importance of Belgium’s performance: ‘I did not watch them against other teams except in their game against the Netherlands and the match was 50:50’, he confessed.
From where I sit, the key will lie in our performance, not the opposition, so, based on that we need to work on, yes, we can capture the three points.
