Arsenal have been encouraged to pursue Manchester United midfielder Casemiro if Thomas Partey leaves the club this summer.
The Gunners are open to selling Partey during the transfer window and have already attracted interest from several European clubs.
Gilberto Silva’s Endorsement
Arsenal legend Gilberto Silva believes Casemiro, despite his struggles at Old Trafford last season, would be a “very strong and stable option” for the Gunners.
Casemiro had an impressive first season at Manchester United after leaving Real Madrid in 2022 but faced a challenging 2023-24 campaign.
The 32-year-old, who has won five Champions League titles, was criticized for his performances, particularly when playing out of position at center-back.
Gilberto attributes Casemiro’s
underperformance to the chaotic season Manchester United endured. “At Manchester United, we have to analyze the team itself and not players individually like Casemiro,” Gilberto told Bet365. He emphasized that the team’s overall poor season affected everyone and that Casemiro was unfairly singled out by pundits.
Thomas Partey Replacement
Gilberto sees Casemiro as a valuable addition to Arsenal’s midfield. “I think he still has the ability and capacity to stay in the Premier League, whether he’s going to be at United or any other club.
Casemiro could be a good fit for Arsenal,” Gilberto added. He highlighted that if Partey leaves, Casemiro would bring stability and strength to Arsenal’s midfield.
Casemiro has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia but remains confident in his ability to compete at the top level. “I feel very well, very well,” Casemiro told Sky Sports.
He dismissed concerns about his age, citing examples of older players performing well in top leagues. Casemiro expressed happiness at Manchester United and a desire to continue playing in the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, is likely to bolster his squad this summer, and Casemiro could be a strategic addition if Partey departs.
