Cristiano Ronaldo broke down in tears after Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak saved his penalty kick, as he was denied an opportunity to score his first goal at Euro 2024.
Portugal were presented an opportunity to take the lead in extra-time but Ronaldo saw his spot kick saved by the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper.
Ronaldo who had a frustrating evening, failing to find the back of the net despite numerous attempts, broke down in tears after Oblak saved his penalty.

The 39-year-old sobbed intensely as teammates comforted him following his miss before second half of extra time against Slovenia.

One said, ”A leader is not meant to be doing this.. what is all these crocodile tears for?”
Another who happens to be a Messi fan wrote, ”My GOAT didn’t cry when France equalized in the World Cup finals. He stood up and led his country to victory!,”

The game ended in a goaless draw as both teams prepared for the penalty shootout.
Cristiano Ronaldo eventually redeemed himself as he stepped up to score the first penalty for Roberto Martinez’s side after Diogo Costa had saved Slovenia’s spot kick.
The shootout eventually ended in a 3-0 win in favour of Portugal as they advance to the quarterfinals where they will face France.
