Arsenal have announced the signing of Barcelona and World-Cup winning forward Mariona Caldentey.
Since joining Barcelona in 2014, the 28-year-old has won six Liga F championships, three Champions Leagues, and six Spanish Cups.
With 114 goals in 302 games for the Catalan team, she ranks fifth all-time among Barcelona’s best scorers.
Caldentey’s speech after signing

ey was also a member of the Spanish Women’s World Cup winning team in 2023, that defeat England to clinch their first ever major championship.
“I think what Arsenal are doing as a club is amazing – on and off the pitch,” Caldentay said, as quoted by BBC.
“I love the way we want to play as a team and I think there’s a strong mentality building here.
“It’s been incredible to see what the club has done away from the pitch, with supporters following the team everywhere and lots of records being broken. I can’t wait to get started and help the team win trophies and entertain our supporters,” she added.
Arsenal’s team revamp ahead of next season
Caldentey helped Spain win the 2023–24 Nations League and has scored 26 goals in 72 games for the Spanish national team.
Following an underwhelming 2023/2024 league campaign that saw Arsenal finish third on the table, the North London have began a revamp of the squad ahead of next season, and Caldentey’s signing looks like a valuable addition.
