Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is in mourning state following the death of his Egyptian teammate Ahmed Refaat, who died in the early hours of Saturday from heart attack.
Refaat, who made seven senior appearances for Egypt between 2013 and 2022 and scored two goals, had collapsed on the field during a game in March.
He was playing in the Egyptian Premier League for Modern Future FC against Al Ittihad Alexandria when he suddenly fell to the ground.
The late Egyptian international was taken to the hospital immediately and was later discharged after one month, with a pacemaker on.

Unfortunately, Refaat tragically passed away early on Saturday morning after suffering a heart attack.
Following the news, Mohamed Salah, who was a teammate of Refaat’s in the Egyptian national team, took to his social media account on X (formerly twitter) to pay his tribute to the diseased football player.
”Survival is for God, and may God give patience to his family and all his loved ones,” the Egyptian captain wrote.

Refaat, who played winger for much of his career, was formerly with Al Wahda in the United Arab Emirates, Zamalek, Al Masry, ENPPI SC, and Al Ittihad Alexandria in Egypt.
He played for Egypt in the African U-20 Championship in 2013 and went on to win the Egyptian Super Cup in 2017 and the Egyptian League Cup in 2022 with Modern Future.
