Joshua Zirkzee suggested that he could transfer to Manchester United after the Dutch team’s 2-1 win against Turkey in the Euro 2024 qualifier Sportsbuddy.ng reports.
Manchester United are eager to seal the Bologna striker’s deal before the start of the new Premier League season since they failed to secure a forward in the January transfer window.
Manchester United In Pole Position
AC Milan had been in talks with the 23-year-old target before and even had the deal in place last month. However, the transfer did not materialize since Milan was unwilling to part with extra €15 million (£12. 6m) fee to Zirkzee’s agent Kia Joorabchian.
This standstill has benefited United and the club is willing to pay Zirkzee’s €40m (£33. 7m) release fee, which is valid until August. According to reports in Holland, Joshua Zirkzee’s move to Manchester United will be completed after the ongoing Euros.
Erik Ten Hag’s Influence
Italian based sources claim that United manager Erik ten Hag has contacted Zirkzee directly to convince the young talent to join the Red Devils club at the Old Trafford.
Zirkzee made his senior international debut for the Netherlands in their Euro 2024 quarter-final win over Turkey and, when asked about his future, he responded: “I don’t know, let’s see.
”According to Giovanni Sartori, the technical director of Bologna, the team is already expecting Zirkzee to leave. “Zirkzee has a clause, so he will leave 99. 9 per cent,” Sartori told Sky Sport Italia.
“We have been discussing his replacement for several months now and it will not be easy but we shall endeavour to replace him; we have the names, the ideas.
”Zirkzee signed for Bologna from Bayern Munich for €8. £7m in August 2022 and netted 11 goals in Serie A last season.
