After the match between Uruguay and Brazil in the Copa America quarter-final, Luis Suarez has fired shots at Andreas Pereira Sportsbuddy.ng reports.
The match went to penalty shootout and it was Manuel Ugarte who scored the winning kick after Eder Militao’s shot was saved and Douglas Luiz effort went wide.
Nahitan Nandez received the marching order in the 35 th minute, but the Uruguay team emerged victorious and will take on Colombia in the semi-final.
Pereira’s Pre-Match Comments
Previously to the quarter-final, Fulham midfielder stated that Brazil had a better team in comparison with Uruguay.
“The Uruguayan national team is very good, but if you take it name by name, we have a team that they dream of having,” The former Man utd star said.
Suarez’s Response
After the win, Suarez addressed Pereira’s comments: ”We have the best midfielders in the world, top-level players To talk about Uruguay, you have to have a little more respect, know the history of Uruguay.”
He also noted that Pereira was the backup for Giorgian De Arrascaeta at Flamengo and stressed that Uruguay has very good players.
Pereira’s Clarification
After the loss to Brazil, Pereira sought to explain his words further, denying he had intended to offend anyone.
All I said was that I like it and I believe our players are better, so if they use that, they can do whatever they want,” the midfielder said in an attempt to defend himself from allegations of disrespect towards Uruguay.
